FOUNDATION

The Italian-Norwegian study center in Tolfa (Centro studi Italo-norvegese a Tolfa) was created in 1995 as a membership driven association. The Norwegian ex priest and professor Edvard Vogt collected a number of people, organised a group and bought the ex convent San Giuseppe in Tolfa - with good help from local key persons.

AIM

Its function is to promote Norwegian and Italian cultural exchange, study of Italian culture and tradition, and scientific research. The Association’s main activity is to own and operate study center in the small town of Tolfa.

The association also supports artistic and other activities that help to increase the cultural interface between Norway and Italy.

ORGANISATION

Anyone who supports the aims of the association can join. The number of members of the association is now limited to 90 memberships. When a membership is free and there are several applicants, this should offer the applicants the Board believes can best fulfill the association’s purpose. The fee to enter is of a loan amount currently NOK 135.000 and the annual fee is currently NOK 4.000.

Members can stay as long as they will according to a web booking system, and can also bring family, friends and organise larger groups as seminars etc.

STRUCTURE

The center consists of a villa on two floors and an annex with a hall, an ex church and a tower. The hall and the ex church are used for seminars, exhibitions, concerts etc. In the villa there are eight relatively large overnight rooms, two kitchens, three WC / bathroom, a spacious hall, a library and a living room with access to the garden. The tower contains four additional overnight rooms and WC/bathrooms and kitchens. In addition there are terraces, a little piazza in front of the ex church and a garden
